When it comes to high school athletics, being the featured campus on the Kern High Network’s, In The Huddle program is regarded as a big deal. For Del Oro High, it’s a sign that the school is finally being recognized for its accomplishments.
In The Huddle is the Kern High Network’s version of ESPN’s popular College GameDay program where analysts interview coaches and players to talk about the week’s notable college football games across the country. In The Huddle is in its second season, and is hosted by Vance Palm and Trevor Horn.
On Friday during lunch, In The Huddle broadcast its weekly show in front of the gymnasium. In addition to Del Oro principal Dr. Brandi Ball and head varsity football coach Pete Hernandez, eight Suns student athletes were guests on Friday’s livestream: cheerleader and golfer Khloe Soto, Sunburst Editor-in-Chief Estefany Cano, cheer co-captain Yuridia Muro, cheer co-captain and ASB president Khushwant Kaur, cross country runner Noel Huato, volleyball player Jenny Padilla, football player Joshua Long, and Ballet Folklorico dancer Desiree Seda.
Hernandez and Padilla, along with head varsity volleyball coach Callie Albison and football player Julian Diaz, were previously guests on In The Huddle during its media day livestream on Aug. 8.
